Casablanca

The next morning dawned bright and clear and after a lovely breakfast we set off for the Habous area and the nouvelle medina. We had a great walk around and a good browse in the various shops before sitting in an outdoor cafe for a delicious mint tea.

After relaxing with our tea and watching Moroccan life around us we jump into a petit taxi and off we go to the Hassan II Mosque. As we pop out of the taxi all we can say is ‘wow’! What an amazing sight stands before us. The colours are just fabulous and although I tried, the pictures will not do it justice.

When we first arrived the sun was shining brightly but after walking around the seawall the fog started to roll in.

We walk over 14km today, totally enjoying every moment and finish the day with a fantastic Moroccan meal.

Morocco Bound

And so another adventure begins, this time with a good friend with whom I’d reconnected this summer. A phone call later plans were made and the next thing we knew we were boarding a plane for Casablanca!

We arrived early in the morning just as the sun was starting to wake up. As the plane taxied in towards the terminal I looked out the window to catch palm trees set against a pink sunrise. A hazy fog made the entire scene very magical and I wished my camera hadn’t been safely slowed away under the seat in front of me.

We settle into our hotel and head out for walk about our neighborhood and a nice lunch. Later that night we went wandering, getting lost but finding wonderful sights along the way.

Hot, roasted peanuts, the best ever!

A good start to our new adventure, we did get a little lost but that is part of the fun of exploring a new city. We made it back and fell into bed for a much needed sleep.
